About This Album –

The trumpet of “K. D. “ has always been recognized as one of the most exciting and swinging in all of modern jazz. Dorham has worked with all the best, from Charlie Parker through Art Blakey and Max Roach, and more recently as leader of his own groups. Here he ahs stretching-out room (dig his really great ballad treatment of I Should Care) on a couple of sessions involving some of the more hard-driving members of the New York jazz scene. Kenny’s “Friends” include the late alto star Ernie Henry (a particularly close friend with whose style Kenny fitted in an extremely close-knit way), the funky pianist Kenny Drew, and the outstanding bassist, Wilbur Ware.
