About This Album -

T he piano-led trio is one of the basic, and probably the most frequently recorded of modern jazz units –and this is probably one of the most exciting and swinging trios ever put together. The emphasis in the title should be equally on all three words: Tough (meaning tough to beat) Piano (for leader Kenny Drew) and Trio (meaning that all three work together in remarkable unity). Drew has been featured with such as Lester Young, Stan Getz and Buddy Rich; Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones, both top-rated on their instruments, are best known for their long associations with Miles Davis.
